Rajasthan made 214 for 6. Nandre Burger took 1 for 35. The chase needed 215. Sai Sudharsan made 58 off 32. Shubman Gill made 104 off 53. They were still together deep into the innings. Gujarat 219 for 3 in 18.4 overs, eight balls remaining. Player of the match: Gill. He is the captain who took his side to a third IPL final.

The final was already waiting: Bengaluru, who had not needed this match. Gujarat had needed all of it. A hundred in a qualifier is a door, not a trophy. The door opened. The trophy was two nights away, and someone else lifted it.
